The Cougar aggregate/crushed stone occurrence is located at the end of Surf Inlet, adjacent to the western end of Cougar Lake.

The area is underlain by a series of Mesozoic intrusions with rafts of Paleozoic to Mesozoic layered rocks and orthogneiss. The larger intrusions are quartz diorite to granodiorite in composition. Smaller diorite and gabbro bodies are also noted.

Locally, there is a massive medium grey coloured quartz diorite of Cretaceous age with darker xenoliths and a unit of orthogneiss.

In 2006, Ascot Resources Ltd. completed a two day program of geological mapping, and prospecting, and 315 kilograms of rock samples were collected for analysis and testing for suitability as a crushed rock/aggregate product.
